Design and Site-Specific Planning
Designed by Plum Architecture, the Moose Creek Main House is carefully positioned to embrace sweeping mountain views. The second-story kitchen and living spaces overlook the west side of Taylor Mountain and Oliver Peak—landmarks treasured by local backcountry skiers. Expansive windows bring the outdoors in, while two covered porches extend the living experience outside, offering protected areas to gather, dine, or simply take in the alpine setting.
Materials and Construction Detailing
Perched at the base of Teton Pass, this residence is designed to endure heavy snow loads, high winds, and long winters. Low-maintenance metal siding and a shingle roof provide lasting protection against the harshest conditions.
Behind the finishes, advanced performance detailing ensures a durable, efficient, and comfortable home. The structure integrates Huber Zip Sheathing and Tape System alongside Elevated Timberworks + Custom Construction’s proven airtight envelope detailing, including gaskets and high-performance European sealing tapes. The result: a draft-free, warm home that stands resilient in even the most demanding weather.
Indoor comfort is further enhanced with a Lunos ductless heat recovery ventilation system, delivering fresh air circulation without compromising energy efficiency.
Build Process and Problem-Solving
Throughout construction, Elevated Timberworks + Custom Construction collaborated closely with the client to fine-tune finishes and details. This hands-on approach allowed for a final product tailored to the family’s lifestyle, ensuring every space feels intentional, functional, and uniquely theirs.
Unique Aspects
-A custom sauna on the first level provides a restorative après-ski retreat, complete with views of Oliver Peak.
-The three-level layout brings large families together in shared spaces for meals and gatherings while offering private nooks for retreat and seclusion.
-Timber-framed covered porches highlight authentic craftsmanship while providing shelter and showcasing warm wood siding accents that break up the modern exterior.
-Landscaping emphasizes minimal intervention, with native grasses reclaiming the site for natural beauty and privacy. Small lawn areas are integrated to support outdoor family activities while maintaining harmony with the surrounding landscape.
